Practical tips for planning your trip
🏔️ Mountain Roads
The roads leading to the hamlets of the valley are mountain roads, some with tight hairpin bends. In winter it is advisable to check the weather and to carry snow chains or winter tyres. The SS65 (Via della Futa) is generally well maintained.
⛽ Fuel
Petrol stations are in Firenzuola (the main town) and along the SS65. There are no petrol stations in the hamlets of the valley, so it is advisable to fill up before setting off for the more remote villages.
📱 GPS and Navigation
Satnavs may hold out-of-date data for the smaller roads. It is advisable to download offline maps before setting out and to follow the local road signs for the final stretches towards the hamlets. Mobile coverage varies in the more remote areas.
